Quick 6 VI (try saying that three times fast) is a small scenario pack featuring a half-dozen mixed-bag scenarios originally designed for release at the 2023 West Coast Rumble ASL tournament in Vancouver, British Columbia. It’s the sixth, so far, of a series of such packs.
This small pack has small scenarios; there is one action that are (barely) medium-sized, while the rest are small to very small. A typical scenario in this pack might feature something like 8-10 attacking squads with up to 1-2 AFVs vs. 6-7 defending squads, plus some fortifications. The SSRs also tend to be uncomplicated and straightforward. The scenarios are obviously designed to be tournament sized, small in OB and map area alike, and are likely to be finished with enough time to spare to make a quick McDonald’s run before the next scenario is due to start. Or make it a Tim Horton’s run, since these are Canadian scenarios.
As is common with scenarios designed by George Kelln, the scenarios here tend to be packed with support weapons. The 10 attacking squads in Q32 (To the Cider Crossroads), for instance, have 9 SW to divide among them. The three starting defending squads get 2 SW to fight over. However, not all of the scenarios feature this over-abundance.
The scenarios of the pack include:
- Q31 (The Outskirts of Consthum). Belgium 1944. Americans vs. Germans.
- Q32 (To the Cider Crossroads). Italy 1943. Canadians vs. Germans. Heavy Mist.
- Q33 (Exploiting the Gap). France 1944. British vs. Germans.
- Q34 (Stymied at Isneauville). France 1940. British vs. Germans.
- Q35 (Breakthrough). Soviet Union 1942. Soviets vs. Germans.
- Q36 (Showdown at the Crossroads). France 1944. Americans vs. Germans. Bocage. The U.S. unit here seems to be part of the Second Infantry Division, as mentioned in the historical summary, rather than the Ninth Infantry Division, as labeled in the OB section.
To play all the scenarios, the following boards are required: 6, 10, 18, 54, 11a, and 14a. All the scenarios take place on less than a single board.
None of the scenarios particularly stand out as unique or in other ways call too much attention to themselves; this is not intended as a detraction.
Those who like meatier fare can safely pass this product by, but ASLers willing to try bite-sized morsels (Timbits, if you will), might find some of the actions here pleasant.
