Desperation Morale has not examined this product and cannot confirm claims of its allege contents. However, it appears to have a historical map formed from 11 glossy 12" x 18" heavy paper/light cardstock map panels and 1 11" x 16" map panel, 4 pages rules, 1 1/2" countersheet (280 counters) and 1 5/8" half-countersheet (88 counters) for 368 die-cut counters total, 8 scenarios.
Note: Critical Hit publishes products at a high volume and its products have a general history of quality control issues. Critical Hit provides no review/evaluation copies and typically prices its products very high. For all these reasons, Desperation Morale no longer acquires all, or even most, Critical Hit products for analysis and write-up on this website.
This entry, then, is not a typical Desperation Morale write-up but rather more of a placeholder and historical marker. If Desperation Morale ever acquires a copy of this product, this placeholder entry will be replaced by a full write-up.
Operation Deadstick is a rather cynical attempt by Critical Hit to resell material it published only the year before. In 2017, Critical Hit published King Red + Operation Deadstick, a historical module that combined two British Normandy-related actions, the King Red landing on Gold Beach and the airlanding op Operation Pegasus, designed to capture bridges over the Orne River and Caen Canal. However, only a year later, Critical Hit reproduced the King Red portion as King Red/Green Sectors, and, with this product, released Operation Deadstick as a separate module of its own.
ASLers should read the write-up for Operation Deadstick that appears in King Red + Operation Deadstick, because it is the same here. The only difference is that Critical Hit increased the size of the map, giving it larger hexes, and provides different counters. The scenarios are the same.
For the price Critical Hit is charging for this product–$99.95 as of this writing–a player could buy King Red + Operation Deadstick and get all the Deadstick materials, plus all the King Red materials as well, for the same price.
